Rector Dalgar Met with Journalists: Shared MAKU's Studies and Goals

The Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, met with members of the press.

 

At the lunch held at the historic Taşoda Mansion, the President of the Journalists Society Kürşat Tuncel, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Rector Advisors Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alparslan and Prof. Dr. İsmail Çelik, Secretary General Ümit Yavuz, Director of Corporate Communication Application and Research Center Assoc. Dr. Murat Kara, along with academics and journalists were present. 

 

Rector Dalgar, emphasizing that Taşoda Mansion is a restaurant where local dishes are served and historical and spiritual values are best utilized, expressed his pleasure to meet with journalists in this historic place. Rector Dalgar also underlined that Taşoda Mansion will make significant contributions to Burdur in cultural tours.

 

A Gastronomy and Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum Will Be Established 

 

Rector Dalgar, stating that the university continues its work in line with the principle of "Universal Knowledge, Social Contribution", said, “We aim to reflect MAKÜ's gastronomic knowledge on Burdur's local values. In this context, we have accelerated our efforts to establish a Gastronomy and Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.” Rector Dalgar emphasized that the Salda Science Center, which will be opened soon and taken over from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, will also make significant contributions to Burdur's tourism and development. He stated that the university will continue to support regional development.

 

Internationalization Strategy and Livestock Projects Continue

 

Rector Dalgar, referring to internationalization strategies, stated that they have agreed in principle with the Netherlands on producing goat genetics, they have reached an important point in the embryo project and with the change in legislation, embryos with high genetic characteristics will be delivered to farmers. He also emphasized that the university continues its training programs for female farmers. Rector Dalgar, stating that they are working on digital agriculture technologies due to the decrease in population in villages and the migration of young people to the city, announced that they will establish a Smart Agriculture Center in cooperation with Hacettepe University. He also added that an R&D study is being conducted on drone technology. 

 

We Paid Attention to International Promotion, We Increased Our Education Quality 

 

Rector Dalgar, stating that they attach importance to international promotion as well as regional development, said that they participated in many promotion fairs abroad and also made international bilateral agreements. Rector Dalgar also emphasized that MAKÜ entered the first 600-800 band in international rankings and increased its recognition.

 

Burdur is a Favorable City in Student Preferences

 

Rector Dalgar stated that Burdur is a favorable city for students, offering a successful education environment thanks to the lack of security problems, low cost of living, and the scarcity of distracting elements. He stated that in the digital age, with information being accessible from everywhere, cities like Burdur have become attractive in student preferences.

 

Micro Competency Programs are Starting 

 

Rector Dalgar, who said, “MAKÜ will start 10 different micro competency programs in the new education period to support the development of students. These programs will allow students to gain competence outside their own fields, expanding their career paths." He stated that these studies offer great opportunities for students by saying "We offer more than a university". Rector Dalgar said, “MAKÜ offers more than 500 elective courses to its students, providing the opportunity to enrich their education with micro competencies. We attach great importance to applied education. We are also a leading university in this regard.” 

 

Artificial Intelligence Has Become Mandatory in Education 

 

Rector Dalgar, stating that they constantly update the university's education policies, announced that artificial intelligence has been made a compulsory course in all departments. With this step, he stated that it is aimed for students to master modern technologies. In addition, he underlined that an Artificial Intelligence Cage will be created within the university, and this place will provide students with the opportunity to improve themselves.

 

A Breeding Heifer Production Center Will Be Established 

Rector Dalgar, stating that MAKÜ is frequently mentioned with its work in the field of animal husbandry, emphasized that establishing a breeding heifer production center is also included in these studies. Rector Dalgar, emphasizing that they are a university with an embryo production license, stated that they continue to conduct their R&D studies in this field on their farms.
