Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Agriculture, Livestock and Food Research Application and Research Center continues to maintain the title of ‘Disease-Free Enterprise’ by preserving high biosecurity standards.

As a result of routine inspections and laboratory analyses conducted by the Burdur Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams, no infectious diseases such as brucellosis and tuberculosis, which have recently threatened animal health, were found in the animals at the MAKÜ Farm. These results once again demonstrated MAKÜ's exemplary practices in healthy production and sustainability in livestock, with their meticulous efforts from animal nutrition to care and hygiene rules.

Center Director Assoc. Prof. İlktan Baştan emphasized in his statement on the subject that their priority is herd health and effective management, saying:

“It is not possible to talk about genetic improvement studies such as embryo transfer in an enterprise where animal health cannot be protected. Therefore, we attach great importance to biosecurity measures in our center. The presence of a Veterinary Faculty accredited by the European Union within our university allows necessary health tests to be conducted in a short time. This situation creates a great element of trust for breeders who purchase animals from us.”

Baştan reminded that breeding animals have previously been sold from the MAKÜ Farm to provinces such as Bursa, Düzce, Konya, Antalya, and Denizli, indicating the healthy production approach at the center.
