Historic achievement in Europe by MAKÜ student Fatma Gül Çevik

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences student Fatma Gül Çevik made her mark in gold letters at the Junior and U23 European Weightlifting Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

The national athlete set two separate European records by lifting 111 kilograms in the snatch and 134 kilograms in the clean and jerk. Breaking another record with her total score, Çevik achieved a historic success by becoming the European Champion in three different categories.

The young athlete, who made Turkey, MAKÜ, and Burdur proud with her three gold medals and three European records, marked an important turning point in her career.

In a congratulatory message published by the MAKÜ administration, they stated, “We congratulate our athlete Fatma Gül Çevik for this great success and wish her continued success.”
