A meaningful meeting was held within the scope of the "Science Cafe" events organized by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Science Communication Coordination. In the event organized under the title "Tiny Explorers of the Micro World," 1st-grade students from Özboyacı Primary School, invited due to the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, experienced a day full of science.
The first stop of the event was the Burdur MAKÜ Scientific and Technological Application and Research Center (BİLTEKMER), operating within MAKÜ. Here, Center Director Prof. Dr. Hale Seçilmiş hosted the students and provided information about the research center's activities, the analyses conducted in the laboratories, and the rules to be followed.
After the briefing, the students had the opportunity to examine the samples they chose. The little ones, examining the materials they collected from the laboratory garden under light and electron microscopes with experts, experienced the scientific discovery process and opened the doors to the micro world.
In the second part of the program, the students visited the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Area located in the MAKÜ Rectorate. Here, interacting with the artificial intelligence-supported application of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the children asked questions about national values, both having fun and gaining awareness.
The event, which brought together science and culture, was remembered as an unforgettable experience where students both learned and had a pleasant time.
