The excitement of volleyball at MAKÜ spring festivals has come to an end

The student volleyball tournament organized within the scope of spring festivals at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) was a scene of great excitement. The organization, held at MAKÜ Sports Facilities between May 5-15, 2026, was attended by student teams from 16 faculties, vocational schools, and colleges.

In the tournament held in women's and men's categories, students reflected both the spirit of sports competition and friendship on the field. After the fiercely contested matches, the championship trophy in the men's category was lifted by the Faculty of Sports Sciences, while the Faculty of Health Sciences came in second and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine took third place.

In the women's category, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine completed the tournament at the top. Gölhisar SHMYO placed second, while Bucak Hikmet Tolunay MYO secured third place.

Throughout the tournament, teams fought fiercely in the matches played. In the first round matches, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine defeated the Faculty of Tourism 2-0, while the Faculty of Health Sciences also won against Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock MYO with the same score. Gölhisar SHMYO advanced by defeating Bucak Computer and Information Faculty 2-0, and the Faculty of Sports Sciences did not drop a set against Gölhisar MYO.

In the quarter-final stage, Gölhisar SHMYO and Bucak Hikmet Tolunay MYO eliminated their opponents to advance to the semi-finals. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine passed the Faculty of Sports Sciences with a score of 2-1, while İ.İ.B.F. also reached the semi-finals with the same score against the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In the semi-final matches, Gölhisar SHMYO defeated Bucak Hikmet Tolunay MYO 2-0 to advance to the finals. In the other semi-final, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine defeated İ.İ.B.F. 2-0 to secure a spot in the final. At the end of the final matches, the teams that ranked received their trophies in a ceremony held.

During the award ceremony, medals and trophies were presented to the athletes by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Secretary General Ümit Yavuz, and Head of the Health Culture and Sports Department Süleyman Yarar. The organization became one of the most notable events of the spring festivals with the intense interest of students and their sportsmanship.
