Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) continues to share its scientific knowledge in the field of animal husbandry through international collaborations. In this context, the delegation from MAKÜ's Embryo Biotechnology Application and Research Center (GETEM) made an official working visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Sarajevo University in Bosnia and Herzegovina under the coordination of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
Attending the visit, which was organized to develop animal husbandry activities in the region and strengthen academic collaborations, were Prof. Dr. Yunus Çetin, Director of MAKÜ GETEM, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlktan Baştan, Deputy Director.
During the visit, technical evaluations were made to transfer the knowledge and experience in embryo transfer and advanced reproductive biotechnologies, which have been successfully implemented at MAKÜ for many years, to Sarajevo University. The parties exchanged views on joint training activities, academic collaborations, and scientific research.
Thanks to the project carried out with the support of TİKA, it is aimed to increase productivity in animal husbandry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, promote animals with superior genetic traits, and support efforts to conserve genetic resources. Additionally, it is intended to develop joint R&D projects between the two universities and establish a permanent scientific collaboration.
The visit is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening academic relations between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the technological knowledge sharing in the field of animal husbandry.
