Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar's July 24 Press Holiday Message

Yayın Tarihi | 23 July 2024, Tuesday

Dear Press Member,

July 24 is celebrated as the 116th anniversary of the abolition of censorship, one of the important turning points in Turkish press history. On this occasion, I would like to express our gratitude to you, valuable journalists who chase news for the community, investigate the truth, and convey information correctly.

The press, an indispensable element of democracy, undertakes an important social duty by ensuring that the public has access to correct and impartial information. This duty you carry out, adhering to professional ethics and ethical rules, enhances the reliability and respectability of the press. Press members serving all over our country and the world undertake the mission of informing, enlightening, and raising awareness of the society with great devotion and sacrifice.

I especially thank you for your care in terms of the corporate reputation of our Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, the apple of our city's eye and the common value of all Burdur people. We are grateful to you, valuable workers, for this important task you carry out with sensitivity to the sensitivities of the society and goodwill. As a university, the role of the press in enlightening the society is found very valuable and appreciated in line with the importance we give to education and science.

As universities, while we continue our efforts to provide access to information for the society and multiply this information, we admire the efforts of you press members to disseminate this information and inform the public. The development of education and science is possible with an objective and responsible journalism approach that will contribute to the preservation of social peace and tranquility.

I also thank you for your significant contributions to our university image, congratulate your July 24 Journalists and Press Day on this special occasion, and wish you success in your professional life.

With love and respect,

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar

Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University
