Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar's 30 August Victory Day Message

We all together experience the pride and happiness of celebrating the 102nd anniversary of the 30 August Victory Day, one of the brightest examples of our nation's love for the homeland, struggle for independence and freedom. This meaningful day is a symbol of the great sacrifice and courage shown by our heroic ancestors who fought for the future of our nation.

30 August is the name of a great victory won under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, proclaiming to the whole world that the Turkish nation will not live under captivity. With this victory, the liberation of Anatolia from occupation once again proved what our nation's will and determination can achieve. The Turkish nation exhibited a rare resistance against those who aimed at its existence and freedom, and with the strength it derived from its deep-rooted history, it lit the torch of independence to burn forever. This victory is one of the strongest symbols of the nation's thousands of years of unity and solidarity consciousness, and its stance against oppression and oppressors.

On this occasion, we commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation all our heroic martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives in the defense of the homeland, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, the founders of our Republic. We will continue to work with the determination to always carry forward this sacred homeland and our republic, which they have bequeathed to us, on the path of civilization.

Victory Day is a day of honor that shows how our nation will protect its freedom and independence by embracing its national and spiritual values in unity and solidarity. Today is the day when a nation's determination and perseverance, its faith-filled love for the homeland, and its will to live freely are declared to the whole world.

As Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, we wholeheartedly share the pride and happiness of this great victory and sincerely celebrate the 30 August Victory Day of our dear nation. May the souls of all our martyrs, the guardians of our independence and freedom, rest in peace.

With these feelings and thoughts, we celebrate our nation's Victory Day; we wish the spirit of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood to continue forever.
