MAKÜ made a rapid entry into the GreenMetric World Ranking

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) proved its work in the field of sustainability at an international level. In the GreenMetric World Ranking, which it applied for the first time, MAKÜ ranked 92nd in Turkey and 889th worldwide, collecting a total of 5235 points, showing significant success in environmentally friendly practices.

 

What is GreenMetric?

GreenMetric is an international platform that evaluates universities' achievements in sustainability efforts, environmentally friendly policies, and energy efficiency. These rankings aim to measure universities' contributions to a sustainable future. 

 

The scores MAKÜ achieved in the subcategories contributing to the GreenMetric ranking were determined as follows:

 

  • Sustainable Infrastructure: 825 points
  • Energy and Climate Actions: 510 points
  • Waste Management: 1275 points
  • Water Management: 200 points
  • Transportation: 1150 points
  • Education and Research: 1275 points

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar evaluated the university's success with the following statements:
“Although our university is new to sustainability platforms, this ranking success is the result of our environmentally friendly projects and sustainability strategies. 

On this occasion, I sincerely thank all my team members who contributed to the process, our Sustainability Coordination, our academics, administrative staff, and students. 

This important start in the field of sustainability at our university is a source of motivation to achieve greater goals in the future. 

We will continue on our path with determined steps in line with our goals of reducing our carbon footprint, increasing renewable energy projects, producing innovative solutions in waste management, and conducting sustainability-focused work in the field of education and research.

It should not be forgotten that a sustainable future is only possible with joint efforts. We are honored to be a part of this effort as MAKÜ.”
