Tourism Evaluation Meeting in Burdur was held at MAKÜ

At the meeting, efforts that can be made to best promote Burdur's unique natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage, which draws attention with its tourism potential, were discussed. While exchanging views on the project, important suggestions were made. Discussions were held on what can be done to develop tourism destinations in Burdur and increase the local people's interest in tourism.

 

New routes in Burdur ecotourism: discovery project of archaeological, cultural, and natural heritage

 

Within the scope of the meeting, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mert Nalbant from our University's Faculty of Sports Sciences made a presentation about the Discovery Project of Archaeological, Cultural, and Natural Heritage. Nalbant stated that the start of the project was approved on May 9, 2022, and that the process started quickly, and various workshops were organized in cooperation with the university, local stakeholders, and academics to promote Burdur's historical and cultural riches.

 

It was stated that within the scope of the project, 40 routes in Burdur were determined and marked with GPS points, and brochures were prepared in Turkish, English, and Russian languages. “A total route network of 800 kilometers was created, and signs were placed on these routes,” he said.

 

Burdur's tourism potential and local people's participation

 

Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, in her speech at the meeting, emphasized the importance of progress in the project, saying, “I believe that when the project is completed, Burdur will attract more attention as a tourism destination. However, we first need to do more work on the deficiencies in the service sector and the local people's support for tourism,” she said.

 

Concrete steps and goals

 

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that concrete steps to be taken in the project are important, saying, “We must implement this project and promote it quickly. Especially, it is necessary to determine the routes that will stand out and promote them effectively,” he said.

 

At the meeting, while determining the roadmap to be followed to develop Burdur's tourism potential, it was emphasized that activities that can attract the attention of local people and tourists should be implemented quickly.

 

The meeting was attended by Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, our University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, relevant institution managers, and academics.
