An event both fun and active for our staff
Speaking about the event, Öğr. Gör. Dr. Mine Ömercioğlu stated that they organize a different physical activity event every week within the scope of the ‘Spor Dostu Kampüs’ project and said:
“This week, we wanted to introduce the floor curling branch. Our students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences who are interested in this field took an active role in the event. The main purpose of organizing it in the Rectorate building was to allow our administrative staff to take a short break from their daily routines and to highlight the importance of physical activity. We observed that a fun and active atmosphere was created here today. The enjoyment of the participants shows that our event has achieved its purpose.” she said.
Movement will continue with an active campus
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who attended the event, also stated; "As a university, within the scope of the ‘Aktif Kampüs’ initiative we implemented under the leadership of our Faculty of Sports Sciences, we make an effort to organize different physical activities every week throughout the year. As a Sports-Friendly Campus, we place importance on physical activities for both our students and staff. We plan to design such event areas in different academic and administrative sciences.” he stated.
What is Floor Curling?
Floor curling is a version of the traditional curling sport played on a flat surface instead of ice. Players test their strategy and precision by trying to direct specially designed discs to the target area. This game, which does not require ice, stands out as a fun physical activity appealing to different age groups.
