Success at MAKÜ with TÜBİTAK: Award for 186 student projects!

Award Ceremony for TÜBİTAK Student Projects held at MAKÜ

An award ceremony was held for TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B student projects organized by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Research Development Coordination. Students and advisor academicians involved in the projects supported under the Scientist Support Programs Presidency (BİDEB) were honored with certificates of achievement.

 

Rector Dalgar: “We encourage a project culture”

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized that the TÜBİTAK Student Projects Award Ceremony was held for the first time at MAKÜ and said:

 

“Such ceremonies held by universities reflect the institution's vision. We also support the habit of project production and scientific curiosity in our students by rewarding academic achievements.”

 

Rector Dalgar stated that 184 projects under 2209-A and 2 projects under 2209-B were eligible for support, and among the total 206 state and foundation universities that applied to the program, MAKÜ ranked 20th according to 472 project applications and 31st according to the total accepted 186 projects. He highlighted that this success is very valuable considering the young age of the university.

 

Rector Dalgar also expressed that the number of projects eligible for support in the same category increased by 70% compared to the number of projects accepted in the previous term.

 

BAP support increased, new resources opened

Not only awards but also new support mechanisms were announced at the ceremony. Rector Dalgar announced that the financial support provided to students through MAKÜ's Scientific Research Projects (BAP) funds was increased from 30% to 50%.

Additionally, the wide range of resources provided to student communities through the Ministry of Youth and Sports' ÜNİDES program was mentioned.

 

Emphasis on technology and sustainability

Rector Dalgar stated that students should make more active use of the opportunities within the Technopark and Technology Transfer Office, emphasizing the importance of 3D printers and advanced design laboratories.

 

He also drew attention to Turkey's first Livestock Technologies Festival HAYTEKFEST, which will be hosted by the university for the second time, expressing that they expect contributions from not only technical fields but also social sciences.

 

New generation talents: Micro Competency Program

At the end of his speech, Dalgar also mentioned MAKÜ's “Micro Competency Program,” stating that they aim to equip students in areas related to the workforce of the future, such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and digital design.
