Rector Dalgar: “We contribute to Turkey’s independence story with agriculture and livestock”
Evaluating the return from TEKNOFEST, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that this year the festival was held with much more comprehensive and intense participation compared to previous years. Emphasizing that 1 million 100 thousand projects applied to the competitions from across Turkey, Dalgar conveyed that MAKÜ, participating in TEKNOFEST for the first time, took a special place in the “Agricultural Technologies Clustering” section together with Boğaziçi University.
Dalgar, stating that the university's long-term studies in agricultural technologies deserved this special area, said, “Our projects, such as the autonomous field robot, solutions for combating animal diseases, and being the only university in Turkey licensed to produce domestic embryos, received great admiration.”
Youth interest shifts to agricultural technologies
Reminding that the average age in the agricultural sector is rising and young people are distant from this field, Dalgar expressed that the projects exhibited at TEKNOFEST changed the perspective of young people. Dalgar said, “Now young people see agriculture not as a classic job done in the field with boots, but as a profession of the future with robots, artificial intelligence, and digital management systems.”
Intense interest in embryo technology
One of MAKÜ’s most notable projects was the embryo studies. The display of fertilized eggs in a laboratory environment under a microscope attracted the attention of visitors. Rector Dalgar stated that embryo technology could move Turkey from an importer to an exporter position in livestock. He also emphasized that this technology would contribute to more efficient use of water resources.
Invitation from Rector Dalgar to HAYTEKFEST
Rector Dalgar announced that HAYTEKFEST, organized under the leadership of MAKÜ, has been expanded this year to become the “Livestock, Agriculture, and Food Technologies Festival.” Dalgar, stating that projects from different regions of Turkey will be exhibited in Burdur on October 16-18, said, “HAYTEKFEST is not just a competition, but also a platform that brings together investors and entrepreneurs. Many projects received investment in past years thanks to this. We expect more this year,” he said.
Dalgar also added that HAYTEKFEST could be integrated with TEKNOFEST in the coming years and become an important preliminary platform in the field of agricultural technologies.
